Backyard Blitz

We have a lovely elderly couple that have been coming to our Church for quite a number of years and have been faithful in their areas of service. Of recent however, Roy has been experiencing some health issues which meant that he was finding it hard to do some of his chores outdoors – you know, mowing the lawn, tidying up etc. So the guys at ManZone decided that we would go around to Roy & Mary’s house and do a mini “Backyard Blitz”.

We got there around 9am and were soon hard at work filling up the 10 metre skip we had hired. Old window frames, scrap metal, pots (hundreds of them), steel rods, chicken wire, old pieces of wood, glass etc! It wasn’t long before the skip was full so we moved onto mowing and whippersnipping the lawns. By the time we were finished, the place was looking great and Roy has very happy.

This reminds me on what Jesus did for us on the Cross. He took all the junk that we have collected (and are still to collect) from us and became our personal skip. We didn’t/don’t have the strength to deal with this junk in ourselves, but thank God that Jesus gives the ultimate Backyard Blitz!
